The primary mission of Coastguard Auckland Air Patrol is to provide aerial search and observation support to Coastguard units in the greater Auckland region.

It is a role that requires our volunteers to complete the Coastguard SAR training program and regularly attend rostered shifts at Ardmore airfield during weekends and public holidays. We may also respond to emergency callouts at other times.

The Coastguard Auckland Air Patrol covers a general search area within a 65 nautical mile radius of the airfield. Most of our search and patrol activity takes place in and around the Hauraki Gulf, Firth of Thames and West Coast but we may be tasked further afield as required.
